Shutter: Vertical-travel, focal plane shutter with all speeds electronically controlled. Front and rear shutter curtains both have dedicated electro-magnetic release control. (Curtain speed: approx. 6.3 ms/24 mm).
Shutter Speeds: 30 sec. - 1/4000 sec., B. X-sync at 1/125 sec. In the manual and shutter speed-priority AE modes, 1/125 sec. and slower shutter speeds can be set in 1/2-stop increments.

AF Control: TTL- CT-SIR (Through-the-Lens Cross-Type Secondary Image Registration) with multiple BASIS (Base-Stored Image Sensor) with the following 4 possible settings: 1. One-Shot AF, 2. AI Servo AF, 3. AI Focus AF and 4. Manual focusing.
AF working range: EV 0-18 (at ISO 100).
Focusing point selection: The focus point can be selected:
1. Automatic: Camera-selected.
2. Manual: User-selected with button and dial.

Auto Exposure Bracketing (AEB): Provided. Auto-bracketing range of ±2 EV (in 1/2-stop increments) for three consecutive frames in single-frame or continuous sbooting mode for one under, one at the standard metered value, and one over.
Camera-shake warning: Provided with Fell Auto and Programmed Image Control modes. Shutter speed display blinks if the shutter speed is slower than the reciprocal of the lens focal length by more than one-half stop.
ISO Film Speed Range:ISO 6 to 6400 manually (ISO 25 - 5000 can be set automatically with DX code in 1/3-stop increments).
Exposure compensation: Provided. ±2 stops in half stops. Not available in PIC modes.

Film loading: Automatic. After film is loaded and the back is closed, the film advances to frame 1 automatically.
Film advance: Depending on the mode selected, the film advances automatically by either a single-frame or continuously. Align film leader at mark, then close the camera back for auto loading. Automatic film advance with built-in motor.
Film rewind: Automatic at the end of the roll. Mid-roll rewind is possible
Multiple exposures: Maximum 9 multiple exposures (cancellable or re-settable anytime with custom fucntion settings).

Flash exposure aperture: Flash exposure aperture is automatically set by the TTL Program (AIM) in Programmed Control modes. In Av and manual modes the aperture is manually set. In the Tv mode: Automatically set to match the set shutter speed.
Flash Sync speed: In Programmed Image Control modes flash synch speed is automatically set between 1/60 and 1/125 sec. In Av mode it is automatically set between 30" and 1/125 sec. to match the set aperture.In the TV and manual modes synch speed can be manually set to 1/125 sec. or slower.
Others Additional Functions/Features:
Custom Functions: 10* custom functions are provided (11 with EOS 50E models). Eleven custom functions allow you to set the EOS 50/50E to suit your own style of photography. Each function has two or more settings.
1. Film rewind: a) automatic silent rewind b) automatic high-speed rewind.

External Flash: Hot shoe socket for external flash for E-TTL, A-TTL and TTL Programmed Flash Exposure Control with dedicated speedlites. Manual flash is possible. NOTE: Although it is possible to use third party flash units with the camera but Canon warns when using an external flash unit, an EOS-dedlcaled Speedlite is also recommended. Using a flash unit (equipped with several contacts on the hot shoe toot) dedicated to a different-brand camera or using a high-voltage batterytype flash unit or accessories may result in camera misoperation or malfunction.
